Undertow of current

Pulling me along

The brine blinds my eyes

Seeing through the stinging water, shadows

That hint of what's ahead

Sunlight comes through the water

And I know which way too swim

Air fills empty lungs

As I burst through the water

In the daylight, my eyes now see

Clear is the day

Clear is my vision

Clear is the predators that stalk me

Out of water, onto shore

I run to save my dreams

But can I escape the seed that's sown

That grows the fear within me?

From the shore, I look out over the sea

The sunlight glistens on the waves, shimmering.

I can feel something watching me.

Shadows circle, in the depths,

Watching, waiting patiently

Do I site now safe and guarded,

Or do I swim again, with the sharks, in the sea?
